About Tokyo Station (JR East & JR Central)
The station is very large.
If you get lost inside the station, go to the 1st floor. It is easier to find your way around from there.
The Shinkansen gates are on the Yaesu side. You can transfer from JR conventional lines to the Shinkansen without leaving the station.
To reach the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, go to the B1 level and look for the “Marunouchi Underground Central Gate.”

The History of Tokyo Station
The Tokyo Station Marunouchi building was completed in 1914. It survived the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923.
During World War II, the station building was damaged by fire. In 1947, it was rebuilt as a two-story building.
In 2003, the building was designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. A five-year restoration project was completed in 2012, restoring the building to its original appearance.
It’s a popular photo spot in Tokyo.
